WEDNESDAY 11/30/11- Despite the persistently high level of domestic unemployment, U.S. corporations are actually installing strategies to illegally discriminate against the entire American workforce, in order to go abroad to seek cheaper labor. Each year over 2,000,000 U.S. jobs that require a college degree and specialized training are being taken away from educated, middle class Americans workers by unqualified workers imported from other countries. These jobs are not being transported overseas. Rather, the labor is being imported here, and it's all due to work preference for foreign workers that have been set up by our own government.
Fighting mad and fighting back, attorney James Otto who is the expert litigator on the subject, has accumulated witnesses and documents that establish the segregation of Americans out of the American workforce.

“Capitol Punishment: The Hard Truth about Washington Corruption from America's Most Notorious Lobbyist” is Jack Abramoff's autobiographical expose unveiling the mysterious and corrupt world of federal politics. There is much to the Abramoff saga that almost no one has heard before. The book is full of surprises and entertaining anecdotes that provide insight into many of the escapades and surreal dealings in Jack's life. While he is the villain in the black fedora hat to most of the world, this narrative unearths Abramoff, the human being: tortured, troubled, guilt-ridden, broken, and sorrowful. There are lessons in this book for all - a compelling and redemptive story.

The sad reality of modern-day slavery
MONDAY 11/14/11- Is slavery making a comeback in America? Consider the following news items:
A woman was recently sentenced to 140 years in prison after using two Nigerian immigrants as personal unpaid servants in her luxury home in Atlanta, Georgia. A few days later, two Ukrainian brothers were convicted of smuggling desperate villagers into the United States to work long hours, cleaning retail stores and office buildings at little or no pay. The prosecuting U.S. attorney in Philadelphia said it was "modern-day slavery. It's hiding in plain sight.”
According to a woman who lived through racial prejudice, segregation and slavery in post-World War II Europe, the slavery crisis in the modern world is far worse than people may think. Lucia Mann, author of Rented Silence, warns that "anyone who thinks slavery died when America abolished it in the 1800s has a shock coming to them." Mann, whose mother was a sex slave and a WWII concentration camp survivor, is a former journalist and author of a novel about slavery and racial prejudice based on her life experiences and those of other persecuted souls she witnessed. www.luciamann.com

Now, he pulls back the curtain on K Street, revealing the dirty underbelly of America's government.

In his hilarious book about the biggest holiday of the year, "I'm Dreaming of a Black Christmas," Lewis lets loose on all things Yule: from how the holiday is celebrated to the traditions that drive him nuts; from being cast as Ebenezer Scrooge in a tour of A Christmas Carol to celebrating the holiday with his ex-wife during their short-lived (and disastrous) marriage. Here, Lewis recounts the annual seasonal insanity he has endured in his funny, razor sharp, insightful, and honest style. http://www.lewisblack.com/

Coping with cancer in the 21st century
THURSDAY 11/10/11- Most people at some point in their lives will get the news that they or someone they love has cancer. 41% of Americans (1 in 2 men & 1 in 3 women) will get cancer in their lifetimes. 21% will die from the disease. However, there is some good news on the subject. On today’s show, two representatives of the CORNUCOPIA CANCER SUPPORT CENTER in Durham will explain the modern approach to coping with a cancer diagnosis, adapting to “new normals,” and understanding the clinical sequence leading up to survivorship.
Mary Lawrence is President and CEO of Cornucopia Cancer Support Center based in Durham. She has grown Cornucopia's reach in the community through partnerships, needed resources and new programs. She is now leading the 16 year-old organization onto new ground breaking work using digital media to grow and make Cornucopia's mission stronger.
Lee Anne McClymont is an author, columnist and cancer survivor. She's worked for the past three years to build a community among cancer patients, survivors and caregivers living in the Triangle. Last year, Lee Anne teamed up with Cornucopia to create a digital platform for survivors, patients and caregivers to share their stories and help shape the future of care delivery for the fragmented disease we call cancer.

Remembering Joe Frazier & other celebs
TUESDAY 11/8/11- The death of boxing legend Joe Frazier on Nov. 7 from liver cancer was somewhat unexpected. At age 67, Frazier was only recently diagnosed with liver cancer. He died perhaps not knowing that he was still admired by many people who remembered his glory days, and charismatic personality. If you had the chance to meet your favorite celebrity and tell them how much they meant to you, who would that person be and what would you say to them?

Those conversations would last three years, during which time Wright came to realize that Roberts was much more than the de-facto “transportation chief” of the Medellin Cartel during the 1980s. Now, Paramount is about to produce the film version of Robert’s remarkable life, with Peter Berg directing and Mark Walberg starring as Roberts.
