Squeezing Americans out of the US workforce

WEDNESDAY 11/30/11- Despite the persistently high level of domestic unemployment, U.S. corporations are actually installing strategies to illegally discriminate against the entire American workforce, in order to go abroad to seek cheaper labor. Each year over 2,000,000 U.S. jobs that require a college degree and specialized training are being taken away from educated, middle class Americans workers by unqualified workers imported from other countries. These jobs are not being transported overseas. Rather, the labor is being imported here, and it's all due to work preference for foreign workers that have been set up by our own government.
Fighting mad and fighting back, attorney James Otto who is the expert litigator on the subject, has accumulated witnesses and documents that establish the segregation of Americans out of the American workforce.

The sad reality of modern-day slavery

MONDAY 11/14/11- Is slavery making a comeback in America? Consider the following news items:

A woman was recently sentenced to 140 years in prison after using two Nigerian immigrants as personal unpaid servants in her luxury home in Atlanta, Georgia. A few days later, two Ukrainian brothers were convicted of smuggling desperate villagers into the United States to work long hours, cleaning retail stores and office buildings at little or no pay. The prosecuting U.S. attorney in Philadelphia said it was "modern-day slavery. It's hiding in plain sight.”

According to a woman who lived through racial prejudice, segregation and slavery in post-World War II Europe, the slavery crisis in the modern world is far worse than people may think. Lucia Mann, author of Rented Silence, warns that "anyone who thinks slavery died when America abolished it in the 1800s has a shock coming to them." Mann, whose mother was a sex slave and a WWII concentration camp survivor, is a former journalist and author of a novel about slavery and racial prejudice based on her life experiences and those of other persecuted souls she witnessed. www.luciamann.com

MONDAY 11/14/11- Jack Abramoff was the centerpiece of the largest DC scandal in since Watergate. But when scandal brought him down--ultimately casting him into disgrace and even prison--this power broker said nothing. Now, he pulls back the curtain on K Street, revealing the dirty underbelly of America's government.

Coping with cancer in the 21st century

THURSDAY 11/10/11- Most people at some point in their lives will get the news that they or someone they love has cancer. 41% of Americans (1 in 2 men & 1 in 3 women) will get cancer in their lifetimes. 21% will die from the disease. However, there is some good news on the subject. On today’s show, two representatives of the CORNUCOPIA CANCER SUPPORT CENTER in Durham will explain the modern approach to coping with a cancer diagnosis, adapting to “new normals,” and understanding the clinical sequence leading up to survivorship.

Mary Lawrence is President and CEO of Cornucopia Cancer Support Center based in Durham. She has grown Cornucopia's reach in the community through partnerships, needed resources and new programs. She is now leading the 16 year-old organization onto new ground breaking work using digital media to grow and make Cornucopia's mission stronger.

Lee Anne McClymont is an author, columnist and cancer survivor. She's worked for the past three years to build a community among cancer patients, survivors and caregivers living in the Triangle. Last year, Lee Anne teamed up with Cornucopia to create a digital platform for survivors, patients and caregivers to share their stories and help shape the future of care delivery for the fragmented disease we call cancer.

Another teacher gone wild

THURSDAY 10/20/11- Did this teacher deserve to get fired? Patricia McAllister was fired by the Los Angeles school district after making anti-semitic comments during an 'Occupy L.A.' Protest. McAllister, in a local TV interview, said, "the Zionist Jews who are running these big banks and our federal reserve -- which is not run by the federal government -- they need to be run out of this country."

Exotic animals--THEY'RE NOT PETS!

THURSDAY 10/20/11- State legislatures everywhere may be rethinking their statutes regarding the private ownership of wild animals after the incident this week in Ohio, where sheriff's deputies were forced to shoot nearly 50 wild animals - including 18 rare Bengal tigers and 17 lions - in a big-game hunt across the countryside. The owner of an exotic-animal park in Zanesville apparently threw their cages open and committed suicide in what appeared to be one last act of spite against his neighbors and police.

Can a teacher be fired for being anti-gay?

THURSDAY 10/20/11- A New Jersey teacher's anti-gay comments on her Facebook page have sparked a firestorm of criticism. Now, some are demanding Viki Knox be fired. Is she no longer suitable for teaching? Outrage over Knox's comments erupted last week when a parent in the school district where she teaches saw the posts, in which she described homosexuality as "perverted" and said it "breeds like cancer." Parents want Knox fired, but there are also supporters, who argued that Knox has a right to free speech.

Is marriage becoming a whites-only deal?

MONDAY 10/3/11- During the past half century, black Americans have become the most unmarried people in our nation. More than two out of every three black women are unmarried, and they are more than twice as likely as white women never to marry. The racial gap in marriage extends beyond the poor. Affluent and college educated blacks are also less likely to marry or stay married than their white counterparts. In his book, Stanford law professor Ralph Richard Banks has combined scholarly data with the poignant stories and frustrations shared by black women throughout the nation.

Terrorist death (part 2)

MP3 File

Was terrorist death an "assassination?"

FRIDAY 9/30/11- For most Americans, the death of a terrorist leader bent on killing fellow U.S. citizens is considered a very good thing. However, presidential candidate Ron Paul is condemning the action because the terrorist was also an American citizen, and he is calling the death an "assassination." Al-Awlaki, the man described as the bin Laden of the Internet, has been associated with a number of plots, including the failed Underwear-Christmas Day bomber, and the mail bombs plot last October. He is also linked to the Time Square bomber and the Ft. Hood shooting attacks. Does Congressman Paul have a valid point?
